Honoring Our Past • Caring for Our Community • Building Our Future

HONORING OUR PAST

We are honored to take care of this iconic 1912 Twisp Building. In 1976, over 50 local folks volunteered their time and money to clean the unused Twisp School and convert the building to house a community center, including the Twisp Library, local dispatch, Red McComb’s office, LFW Dance and a teen center complete with a wall of pinball machines.

CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY

  • Provide a facility for activities for youths and adults of the area and for visitors to the area.

  • Provide a facility in which various public groups and organizations can meet.

  • Provide a facility for the Twisp branch of the North Central Washington Public Library.

  • Provide facilities for recreation and exercise in the Methow Valley area.

  • Provide facilities for the advancement of arts, entertainment, and education for the Methow Valley area.

BUILDING OUR FUTURE

How do we continue to honor our history and care for our community? By providing a building for both of those things to continue! We have made significant improvements to this building for our community, tenants and visitors. Upgrades include new windows, a bell tower, a roof, a drainage system, updated electrical system, fiber connectivity, fresh paint, remodeled gym and kitchens, stage lighting, a paved parking lot, and security cameras that provide increased safety for all who visit the Community Center.

Meet Our Staff

  • Sarah Thomas

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Sarah and her family moved to the Methow Valley in 2017 from the San Juan Islands. Prior to taking on a leadership role with the community center, Sarah worked at the North Cascades Institute and studied Environmental Education & Non-Profit Administration and Leadership. She also had a role at the fledging Methow Housing Trust.

  • Anita Lince

    OUTREACH COORDINATOR

Anita is tasked with building our membership base via fundraising events that she both creates and manages. If you rent our facility, Anita is the one who will coordinate your event with you.

  • Mary McFaul

    VISITOR CENTER

You can find Mary’s friendly face womaning the visitor center information desk during the summer season. Mary keeps busy during the winter by coordinating lessons at the Loup Loup Ski Bowl, and throughout the year by providing consultant services for musicians and other creative souls.

  • David Harris & George Schoenfeld

    FURNACE TAMERS

They keep our community center warm and running smoothly by kindly working with Bertha the boiler.

  • T. R. Stewart

    OIL PICKUP

T.R. is not afraid of Shelly the oil truck. He coaxes her along our valley roads efficiently and picks up used motor oil. We then filter it 3 times and use this oil to heat our building.

  • Carlos Perez

    MAINTENANCE

Dedicated to keeping our historic building in tip-top shape, Carlos handles building maintenance and repairs, cleaning and groundskeeping.
