Give Methow to Support YOUR Methow Valley Community Center
Notes from the Director:
Our community home, the Methow Valley Community Center, is in the midst of a huge retrofit to replace our 80 year old heating system, Bertha, who is failing and needs to be retired. As the weather shifts and cold returns to the Valley we are preparing for her final Winter of work. The Methow Valley Community Center Energy Retrofit began in July in the gym and work in this part of the building is nearing completion! Construction will then move to the side of the building home to the library and old classrooms.
When you come to this year's Christmas Bazaars and Holiday Concerts you will experience the newly renovated gym firsthand. The new lights, ceiling tiles, and insulated exterior walls are hard to miss, but even more noticeable will be the comfortable temperature in the gym provided by the reliable new heat pump system. The Energy Retrofit is a building-wide effort and the gym is a preview of the benefits this project will have for the whole center, home to numerous essential organizations and the gym to beloved annual community events.
We are thrilled to have this upgrade finally underway, but while construction takes place, we have experienced disruption to our regular gymnasium rentals and will continue to incur losses until the entire Energy Retrofit is complete. That's why during this year's Give Methow campaign, we are relying more than ever on your generous support. Your donations will ensure that we can continue to sustain operations during this transition.
Whether you come here to shop at the Farmers Market, attend story time at the Twisp Library, find a good place to eat when you pop by the Twisp Visitor Information Center, are one of the hundreds of students of all ages who take music, dance, yoga or tae kwon do classes each week, use the gym for indoor recreation, memorials, celebrations, or attend large-scale community events, you too have found a home here at YOUR Methow Valley Community Center.
